"My Results Are Beautiful"
Dr Hove and his team are tremendous. They are extremely accomdating and caring. As a physician myself, I am very particular about who I let operate on me. Having said that, I felt completely comforable letting Dr Hove perform my septoplasty (correction of deviated septum). He called me the night of the procedure and the following day to check in on how I was doing. I would recommend to anyone in need of facial surgery.

Dr. Hove closely listened to my goals, and my results are exactly what I wanted. My friends who had the same procedure done before me with other doctors in New York City wished they had gone to Dr. Hove after seeing my results. He was there throughout the entire process to address any concerns and to ensure that I was comfortable. His staff is also extremely kind and professional! I highly recommend this practice!

Advanced Rhinoplasty Techniques
Closed Rhinoplasty
With this surgical technique, Dr. Hove can change the shape of the nose by making incisions inside the nostrils. Many patients prefer the closed, or endonasal, approach because they think it is less invasive, but this is not always the case. If more extensive nasal changes are needed, the open approach may offer better results. In general, Dr. Hove prefers using the closed approach if only the dorsum (profile above the tip) of the nose needs to be changed.
Open Rhinoplasty
With the open approach, the incision is very small (about 5mm), and is made near the bottom of the middle part of the nose between the nostrils (called the columella). When it heals, it is virtually imperceptible. If the tip needs to be sculpted, Dr. Hove prefers to use the open approach. The open approach is less disruptive to the cartilage and natural support structures of the tip; it also gives your surgeon the best natural view of the cartilage to produce the best shape for the tip.
Reconstructive Rhinoplasty
The approaches that plastic surgeons take to nose jobs have changed dramatically in the past three decades. Nasal surgical techniques that originally gave excellent immediate results have led to some long-term problems with structure and function. Dr. Hove often performs reconstructive rhinoplasty on patients with these nasal problems.
The Rhinoplasty Procedure
Step-by-Step
Rhinoplasty typically takes between one and two hours to complete.
FAQs: Rhinoplasty Recovery Timeline
Will My Eyes Be Bruised after Rhinoplasty?
This is much more likely if the bones (upper part) of the nose need to be reshaped. Even so, only about half of patients develop bruising. If bruising does develop, it usually lasts seven to 10 days. If only the cartilage at the tip of the nose needs to be addressed, then bruising is not likely.
Will My Nose Swell after Rhinoplasty?
Yes, but Dr. Hove uses a splint during the first week to limit bruising and swelling. After the splint is removed, patients can use tape at night to keep swelling to a minimum. The vast majority of swelling is gone by three to four weeks. You may notice minor swelling changes for several months after surgery, mainly because you know what was done, but friends and family typically won't notice these subtle changes.
Is My Nose Packed after Rhinoplasty?
Dr. Hove does not routinely use nasal packing after rhinoplasty, which results in a much more comfortable healing period for patients.

More Rhinoplasty FAQs
Do Men Get Nose Surgery?
Absolutely! Rhinoplasty is not only for women. Men from the Main Line who have breathing problems or who are dissatisfied with the appearances of their noses often choose Dr. Hove for facial plastic surgery.
When Will I Notice My Results?
You should notice a difference in the appearance of your nose once the swelling dissipates (within about a month after your surgery). However, it can take up to a year for your nose to completely adjust to its new contours. You will notice gradual changes in your nose during the year after surgery.
What Are the Risks of Rhinoplasty?
The risks of rhinoplasty are the same as the risks of any other surgery. Complications related to anesthesia or infections are the primary areas of concern for rhinoplasty patients. By choosing a respected, experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Hove, you can greatly reduce the risks of facial surgery.
