About Radiesse
Approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Radiesse injections reduce signs of aging with small microspheres composed of calcium hydroxyapatite, which are suspended in a gel-like solution.
Apart from addressing marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and smile lines, Radiesse fillers can also treat frown lines, add volume to the cheeks or backs of the hands, augment the nose, reshape the chin, and contour the jawline. Patients with skin depressions or scarring can benefit from this treatment, as well as those who wish to enhance the shape and size of their lips.
Immediate and Lasting Results
Radiesse acts as a cosmetic filler for the initial three months following treatment. After approximately 90 days, the microspheres actually encourage natural collagen production, resulting in new tissue growth for up to two years. Eventually, the body will absorb the residual substance while collagen production continues, ultimately replacing the gel with your own natural tissue. As a result, the effects of Radiesse are typically longer-lasting than alternative dermal fillers.
Because calcium hydroxyapatite is found naturally in the body, patients do not require allergy testing prior to Radiesse injections.
Radiesse treatment can be performed in our office and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. To numb the area, a topical anesthesia cream will be applied, followed by a local anesthesia injection.
We will then carefully inject the cosmetic filler under the skin in specific locations, beneath the dermis and subcutis layer. Patients will notice immediate results and can expect to see the full benefit of treatment after about one week.
Treatment Benefits
Radiesse has been proven safe and effective in research and clinical trials. Because calcium hydroxyapatite is found naturally in the body, patients do not require allergy testing prior to Radiesse injections. For this reason, patients can often receive treatment on the same day as their initial consultation.
When compared to fillers like Restylane®, Radiesse can last up to four times longer, making it a more cost-effective solution. Although Radiesse has a higher upfront cost, it typically requires a single office visit. Alternatively, Restylane must be re-administered about every six months.

Radiesse is an excellent option for people who are experiencing mild to moderate signs of facial aging. Most patients considering this treatment are between the ages of 35 and 60.
Individuals who are experiencing more substantial signs of aging may be better suited for a cosmetic surgery procedure, such as a facelift.
