Endoscopic Brow Lift Surgery: What Patients Should Know
Lines and wrinkles on the forehead can leave a person looking tired, worried, and much older than they feel. People in the greater Paoli area can count on our practice to offer expert cosmetic care.
For many people, a brow lift surgery can eliminate forehead lines, resulting in a much more youthful and relaxed appearance. The endoscopic brow lift tends to be quite effective, with benefits over traditional open brow lift surgery. Let's go into the basics below.
What Is an Endoscopic Brow Lift?
An endoscopic brow lift is a type of facial enhancement procedure that helps reduce the appearance of forehead lines and wrinkles. This means fewer furrows along the forehead and a more relaxed and rejuvenated appearance. Many people who undergo an endoscopic brow lift look years and years younger.
Endoscopic Brow Lift vs. Open Brow Lift
The endoscopic brow lift is a variation on a traditional, open brow lift.
During an open brow lift, a large incision is made along the scalp behind the hairline. Through this incision, excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is pulled tighter.
By contrast, an endoscopic brow lift is performed through a series of small incisions made along the upper brow and lower scalp, all concealed within the hairline. Through these small incisions, underlying structures can be adjusted.
The endoscopic brow lift results in less major scarring than an open brow lift. The endoscopic surgery is also less invasive and tends to yield comparable if not better results.
Good Candidates for Endoscopic Brow Lift
Good candidates for endoscopic brow lift surgery are people who suffer from lines and wrinkles on the forehead that mar their overall appearance. They should be in good overall health and not suffer from health conditions that may pose a risk to general wellness should they undergo surgery.
It's important that patients understand the risks and benefits of surgery prior to undergoing the procedure. This will often lead to greater patient satisfaction and better overall surgical results.
The Endoscopic Brow Lift Procedure
Patients are placed under general anesthesia during the endoscopic brow lift to prevent pain and anxiety. Surgeons work carefully through a series of three to five incisions, each around 2cm or 3cm in length. Underlying structures of the forehead can be carefully adjusted through these incisions. After the necessary adjustments are made, the incisions are sealed with sutures.
Scarring After Surgery
Scarring is a reality after any surgery. That said, all efforts are made to made to keep post-surgical scarring at a minimum. By hiding these small incisions within the hairline, they tend to be difficult to notice. Over time, the scarring will fade as well, meaning that the small scars will be very hard to detect, even when people are up close.
